Zibby Owens: MOMS DON'T HAVE TIME TO: A QUARANTINE ANTHOLOGY

Zibby Owens, the creator and host of the award-winning podcast, Moms Don’t Have Time to Read Books, will join SEW to discuss her new book, Moms Don’t Have Time To: A Quarantine Anthology. A mother of four herself, Owens wanted to do something to help people carry on and to give them something to focus on other than the horrors of their news feeds, so she launched an online magazine called We Found Time. Authors who had been interviewed on her podcast (which has been selected by Oprah.com as a top literary podcast in 2019 and 2020) wrote original essays for busy readers, and Owens compiled them into an anthology organized into themes inspired by five things moms don’t have time to do: eat, read, workout, breathe, and have sex. Contributors include dozens of acclaimed authors, speaking to the ever-increasing demands on our time, especially during the quarantine.

Owens, a graduate of Yale and Harvard Business School, has been named “NYC’s Most Powerful Book-fluencer” by New York Magazine’s Vulture. She also created the Moms Don’t Have Time to Lose Weight community and hosts the accompanying podcast. She is the Editor-in-Chief of Moms Don’t Have Time to Write, a Medium.com publication.

Before the pandemic, Owens ran a literary salon, hosted her own book fairs, and was a frequent bookstore event moderator. During the quarantine, she hosted a daily Instagram Live author talk show, “Z-IGTV,” a weekly live show with her husband, “KZTime,” launched an online magazine with original author-written essays called We Found Time, and started Zibby’s Virtual Book Club. (It’s no wonder she doesn’t have time to!)

Owens is a also regular contributor to Good Morning America and has recommended books in the Washington Post, Real Simple, and other outlets. She serves on the boards of the Mount Sinai Health System, the Mount Sinai Parenting Center, the Child Mind Institute, and co-chairs the Library Council of the New York Public Library. She currently lives in New York with her husband and children.

Owens intends to publish another anthology later this year called, Moms Don’t Have Time To Have Kids.
