Alice Henderson: A SOLITUDE OF WOLVERINES

Alice_Henderson_sq.jpg

A Solitude of Wolverines is the first book in a thrilling new series by Alice Henderson featuring a wildlife biologist who courts trouble as she saves endangered species and a mysterious killer who buries his dead in the land she helps preserve.

Henderson’s writing is heavily influenced by her work as a dedicated wildlife researcher. Using a variety of methods including bioacoustic studies, she undertakes wildlife surveys to determine what species are present on lands that have been set aside for conservation. There she scopes out signs of poaching and devises ways to improve habitat. Using geographic information systems (GIS), she also designs wildlife corridors and builds habitat suitability and species distribution models. She has surveyed for the presence of grizzlies, wolves, spotted owls, wolverines, jaguars, endangered bats, and more.

Henderson’s other works include The Sky Fire Saga, a series of three cli-fi (climate-centered sci-fi) books and Voracious, a gripping thriller set in Glacier National Park. She has also written media-tie in novels, including official novels for the TV shows Supernatural and Buffy the Vampire Slayer. While working at LucasArts, she wrote material for several Star Wars video games.

Henderson was selected to attend Launchpad, a NASA-funded writing workshop aimed at bringing accurate science to fiction. She holds an interdisciplinary master’s degree.
