Author and South End resident Philip Gambone will read from his latest book, "Travels In a Gay Nation: Portraits of GLBTQ Americans" at the South End Library Tuesday night, October 26. It starts at 6:30 PM. To accompany the reading, head librarian Anne Smart has pulled together a collection of books about gay life that are available to library patrons. The collection includes An Underground Life, Memoirs of a Gay Jew in Nazi Berlin, by Gad Beck: The Man Who Would marry Susan Sontag, by Edward Field; Cleopatra's Wedding Present, Travels Through Syria, by Robert Tewder Moss; When You Are Engulfed in Flames by David Sedaris, and You're Not From Around Here, Are You?, by Louise A. Blum, writing about being a lesbian in small-town America.
