During an interview yesterday on the Emily Rooney show at WGBH 89.7 FM, Emily Rooney said she thought Mayor Menino "has it in for libraries." She also expressed incredulity at the lack of interest by the BPL to partner with local library Friends groups to stabilize and raise funds for their neighborhood libraries. If true, she, said, that would be "criminal."
And she thought that having a vigorous public debate for a long-term plan on the future of the BPL, involving neighborhood associations, schools, churches and other social organizations was a "great idea." To listen to the interview, click here.
